This is Lucky. He and his mother and sibling were strays living in the roof of the house across the street. Every day my mom and I would go over there and leave food and water for Mama Cat and her kittens. One day, my mom heard a meow and looked outside. The mother cat was on our front porch, and her babies were watching from across the street. She was asking for food for her hungry babies. One day all the cats were gone except for one kitten. He wouldn't come down out of the roof. When the neighbor finally was able to get him down he brought the kitten over. I said I would take the kitten and feed him. That was 4 years ago. Today Lucky is 18 pounds of lovable, huggable fur. His name is Lucky because he is lucky to have come to a home where the people living there love cats very much.
Lucky likes being groomed. He especially likes having his face and head rubbed. Another thing Lucky will do is roll over on his back so that he can get a tummy rub. It really makes him purr. Lucky also likes to sit in the laundry basket. In fact it seems like he always does it when I need to use it. Even after he's been fed, Lucky will sit by his food bowl and act like he's starving to death, hoping someone will take pity on him and feed him again. Also Lucky seems to know when I'm going to fill up his crunchy food bowl. Before I can even get the food in the bowl Lucky will come racing down the stairs, waiting for me to fill the bowl up. Lucky has a very inquisitive personality. In the summer he likes to sit in the backyard and watch the birds and squirrels that come to the feeders. In the winter when it's too cold to go outside, Lucky is content to watch the birds at the feeder from a window in the warmth of the house. Lucky absolutely loves catnip. When I give it to him he is in ecstasy. He'll climb all over me just to get at it. Sometimes I'll give him a bit of catnip in a bowl, or I'll rub some on one of his toys. Either way he'll rub all over the catnip and purr like mad. Afterwards he'll find someplace to rest and sleep off his catnip high.
