This is our wonderful cat, our special little guy Chad. He's three years old and he is the funniest, friendliest little character you could imagine. And extremely good looking—don't you agree?
My husband and I met him at the animal shelter. He was five months old and had only been there a few days. He meowed to get our attention, and when I peeked into his cage, he rolled on his back and reached his paws out through the cage bars and gently stroked my cheek. Needless to say, that's all it took. Chad was ready to play, ready to love, and ready to go home with us. His name was Chad in the shelter, and at first we thought we'd change it. However, the more we said the name, the more funny and appropriate it seemed.
When Chad came home with us, he played for five hours straight. When we went to bed that first night, we wondered what to do with him. No problem—he jumped right into bed with us and slept through the night. The next morning he put his soft little paws right on my husband's eyelids and sneezed in his face. Chad has no boundaries.
A few months after we got him, Covid came and my husband and I began working from home. Chad could not have been happier to have company all day long. This past year we both retired and he likes that even more—total attention. Needless to say, he has become a monster.
At night he takes up the whole bed.
I've had cats since I was a teenager, and then when I met my husband he realized he was a cat person too. Every cat we've had has been a gift from God and special in their own memorable way. But Chad—well, he's one for the ages! Friends and family love him, and my mother is just nuts about him. I've been enjoying Cat of the Day since the 1990s, so it might be high time for me to give back and for folks everywhere to get a load of the one, the only, CHAD!
