Ernest
is a stray cat that found me outside of my job about six months ago.
I was outside calling the stray colony of cats I feed at my job, and all
of a sudden I see this cat crying and it literally ran towards me. I
immediately picked him up and fell in love. As I started inspecting him to
make sure he was a boy, well he was and was neutered. I also noticed he
has a huge open wound coming down his spine all the way down to his tail.
Oh and i forgot the best part I noticed his paws were slightly different,
he was a poly-dactyl! In Florida, we call these Hemingway cats, as his
namesake, the author Ernest Hemingway, had a lot of polydacyl cats on his
property in Key West, and they still live there!
I am a nurse and work in a home health agency, so I immediately took him
inside and got his wound cleansed with saline and applied neosporin. I
then begged my mom to please let me take him home (she didn't require much
convincing as she fell in love with him) So it's been six months and Ernest
is thee best cat! He is extremely loving, gets along with all my other
cats. he is very mischievous, he loves to open the door by sticking his
long front legs and huge paws under the door and pulls towards him. He
loves to start crying at 4-5 am for food... so I usually just leave food out
for him. I have to say out of my seven cats, Ernest being the most recent cat
to come in, he is my favorite.
