Panda was the most wonderful boy and we just adored him. He was sweet
and fluffy and he had the most tremendous charisma. There was definitely
something regal about him, and he was the leader of the pack. We got him
from a rescue centre in Cape Town as a kitten, and a year later we got
his brothers Jasper and Quincey from the same place.
Panda was always the instigator in play, and he would chase his brothers
around the house for a good romp. It was hilarious to watch him play
with the laser pointer. He knew the exact sound it made when you picked
it up (not something human ears could detect!) and his pupils would
instantly dilate: he was in alert mode, ready for action!
One of his best play moves was something we called the "vampire sumo,"
in which he would body slam one of his brothers and play-bite their
neck. It sounds pretty rough, but believe me, they enjoyed it. You can
see by the way they cuddled together that, body slam or no body slam,
they were best of friends.
We lost Panda very suddenly and unexpectedly nearly a year ago now. His
kidneys just gave up without warning, and we were absolutely devastated.
The happy memories will always live on, though! We love you, Panda!
