This
is my baby Kahlua. She was rescued with her brother Cuervo, from a
farm where their mother was killed by a car. They were four weeks old at
the time. Sadly, Cuervo passed away last year at age nineteen but Kahlua
celebrated her 20th birthday this March!
Kahlua lives with two other cats and three dogs. All of them are over the
age of ten with Kahlua being the oldest. Kahlua has always been the quiet
wallflower. Her favorite pastime is sleeping on the most comfortable
pillow or blanket. The only thing that will move her is the sound of
kibble in her dish.
In her younger years, she was a beauty. Due to age, she has become skinny
(negative for thyroid problems and diabetes) and stopped grooming. I have
to shave her fur due to matting. You may see a scruffy old cat but in my
eyes she will always be my fluffy friend.
My favorite picture is the one with the four cats. Kahlua is yawning and
the other cats are looking at her, the great tigress!
While many people fawn over kittens, my heart goes to the old cats who
have shared the lives of their owners. Kahlua has been with me through
four moves, many boyfriends and outlived four other pets. She is my wise
old friend and I think she deserves to be honored!
