Wendell
is a sixteen-year-old Maine Coon mix. He is a Southern gentleman from
Virginia. He enjoys long naps, fancy feast, chicken, and being the center of
attention. He dislikes his brother eating his food, thunder storms, the
vacuum, and his mom packing a suitcase.
He loves to be the center of attention. If we have friends over he will
always find the center of the room and lay down so everyone can see him. It's
as if he wants all eyes focused on him.
He is a rescue cat that grew up with a bunch of dogs. We call him "kitty dog"
because he makes a barking sound that sounds like "ruff". He is extremely
affectionate and loves his mother. He snuggles up with her at night and
sleeps on top of her or beside her head. The only thing he may love more than
his mother is food.
His personality is so strong that everyone that meets him says he is their
favorite cat. So many cat people and non cat people have fallen in love with
Wendell! He drinks his water out of the tap or out of a glass. He loves to
lay in dresser drawers. So much that on several occasions he has been shut in
a drawer without us knowing.
He hid in the pantry one time and we shut him in overnight. I got up and went
downstairs to make some coffee. He is always in the kitchen to meet me so he
can get some soft food. On this occasion, no Wendell. I thought that it was
strange so I began to search for him. My wife joined the search ... afraid he
had gotten out of the house somehow. After about 45 minutes we opened the
pantry to find his laying next to a cat food bag. The bag had a hole in it
and his stomach was so full it was hard like a watermelon. He looked at us as
if we were disturbing him. We laughed cause we agreed that he wanted to say
"close the door, I am fine here!"
