All
my babies are special, of course, as any pet owner knows. Autumn, my
Tortie Tabby, is special for a couple of reasons. The first is that when she
was rescued, she was very young, maybe six months old, with kittens. She was a
mommy when she was still really a baby herself. She had fleas and all sorts
of parasites. She never got very big - only five and a half pounds when I
adopted her. She now, two and a half years later, is seven and a half pounds.
She is a survivor.
The second reason Autumn is special is that she chose her own name. I was
talking to myself out loud and said something about autumn (it was November
at the time). She meowed at me. I asked her if that was her name, and she
meowed again. It is coincidence that her colors are fall colors, but perfect.
Autumn is now approximately three and half years old. I adopted her with
another cat, Earl Grey, as a companion for him, but now I would not trade her for anything.
