Say
hello to Buster Lex Keaton, named after the legendary silent film
star Buster Keaton. We also call him Buster-Baby, Lovebug and Underfoot.
Christmas time 2012 we lost our friend and buddy Maxwell after eighteen
wonderful years of companionship. I was devastated to say the least. I
told my husband no more cats for a long time. I cried for a whole
month. But within a week after Max went to the rainbow I wanted
another cat. Not to replace but to help heal. So we went to Adirondack
Humane Society hoping a kitty wanted to come home with us. Buster was
the third kitty I approached. He curled his body and offered me his
fluffy stomach to rub. I was hooked. Even after browsing for over an
hour I kept going back to him and he kept loving my attention. He was the one!
Upon bringing him home he has made himself quite comfy. He shares his
love with me and his Daddy. And true to his Maine Coon heritage he is
a gentle and sweet giant weighing in at eighteen pounds (8 kg). He loves to run and
play and whenever I open a bag of tea he comes running waiting for me
to toss the envelope so he can chase it. He also loves to run from the
upstairs, missing a few steps to plow into the living room, jumping on
to the bench at the big bay window like he is sliding into home
sometimes smacking his forehead on the glass. I learned early on to
keep the bench free of things because he'd knock 'em down.
He has the fluffiest tail I have ever seen. And he struts it like he
knows it. If he was a peacock he'd have lots and lots of girlfriends.
Buster got sick a few months ago with a serious UTI. He spent five nights
in the animal hospital. We were worried sick. He is home now and on a
very strict diet, which by the way, has not kept him from being my
happy plump baby. I'm hoping hubby and I will have Buster by our side
as we approach our golden years. He is the purrfect cat indeed.
