I adopted Cassidy from the North Shore Animal League in December 2015. I had just lost my 20-year-old cat, Ginger, the week before. I was not ready for another cat, but a week later my niece, Amanda, convinced me to go look for another cat. There was so many beautiful cats there, I did not know which one to pick. Then my niece saw Cassidy (that is what North Shore named her) and said, "Aunt Elaine, that's the one, that's the one." And the rest is history.
Cassidy has a bubbly personality. Her personality matches her multi-faceted colors. She does have one trick that floored me. Turns out I can't do anything on my kitchen table without Cassidy getting involved. So this first time I decided to put her in my pantry while I opened my mail. She was wearing a collar with a bell on it at the time. So I closed the door and proceeded to open my mail. A few seconds later, I heard ding-a-ling-a-ling. There was Cassidy standing there in the room. So I then thought I didn't close the door hard enough and she pushed it open. So I put her in again. Two seconds later the same thing, there she was out of the room. So I then thought she got out before I could close the door. So for a third time I did it. There she was again two seconds later, defiantly looking at me.
I was about to pack Cassidy's bags and bring her to Vegas as "The Cat who goes through Walls." So this time I called my sister downstairs to watch, because I wanted her to witness this. I put Cassidy in the room and watched. Turns out there is a hole in the wall between the two rooms and that is how she was getting through. I have been living in that house since 1977 and did not know about this hole in the wall. How did she know?
Cassidy loves to play with man-made toys like tin foil rolled up in a ball and empty face soap boxes! She also likes to watch the birds outside from behind my storm door. She is my little Rascal and I love her to death and hoping to have her with me 20 years like I had with Ginger.
