Maestro became part of our family seven years ago. He was at a shelter and a friend of mine said I needed to adopt him since he has only three legs. (Over the years, I have had five three-legged cats). We were at our limit for furry family members so I went to just 'look.' He was in a trailer called Kitty City. I sat on the floor and he climbed into my lap and licked my hand. Next thing I knew, I was driving home with him.
His name was Sylvester when I got him. But every time I would play the piano he would sit on the piano bench next to me. Thus, we renamed him Maestro. For their safety, our cats, are not allowed to go outside. Maestro loves to hang out in the screened porch. On the porch, he can watch the birds and enjoy the fresh air. And that's where his favorite lounger resides. It is a child's bouncy seat, more popular than any of his cat beds.
Maestro has a great personality. Every morning, as I am trying to work at my computer, he walks across the keyboard multiple times, convincing me that he is more important than work. Sometimes he sits on his haunches and looks like a rabbit. He likes to talk and rub against my hand. He's what I call a 'dog cat;' very personable and confident. When people come to the house, he will greet them. I have a pet care business and there are always dogs staying at my place. Maestro just mixes in with them as if he is part of the pack.
Every day he makes me smile. People that aren't fond of cats (how could that be!) and those with allergies are still nuts about this big boy. At night he sleeps at my side and provides warmth and love. Each and every day I am grateful that I went to 'look' at him.
