This is Monet: I've never ever seen a cat like him, and I've fostered about a hundred and fifty cats and kittens for a rescue group.
He was born to a black and white stray with gold eyes, but two of his siblings had Siamese/Ragdoll coloring, so we think Daddy was probably a Ragdoll. I named him Monet because Monet's my favorite painter and this cat's a work of art -- an impressionistic tableau of brown, black and gray drips and dabs on a white canvas, topped off by those pale blue eyes! He has the Ragdoll personality too -- floppy, cuddly, affectionate. Though he's not the smartest or most graceful of kitties (he's been known to leap up to a chair seat and miss his target!), he's a serious lovebug and purrball.
I rescued his mom, a stray, and her five babies and intended to adopt them all out, because I already had five cats. But when Monet was only eight weeks old, he started climbing the two flights of stairs to my home office from the room where I'd installed his family -- the only one of the kittens to do this. He'd meow pitifully until I picked him up. Then he'd reach up and put his paws gently on my cheeks while looking at me with such adoration I was a goner. I'd recently lost both my parents and one of my two sisters, and decided I couldn't bear to lose him either. So he stayed.
He loves to go outside in good weather (under my supervision) and pretend to be lord of the jungle. He's nervous of strange things, so he never tries to escape the fully fenced yard. He pals about with the other two male cats I have, Finch the orange tabby and Moki the lilac Burmese; the three can often be found in a heap snoozing together. Although Monet can be naughty from time to time, one look at that amazing face and I can't stay mad for long!
